Made of polyethylene, they provide secure attachment and prevent scratches on the aluminum rim. For the best all-around rim protection, we recommend our snow chain model "OTEC".

3. Ice grippers

All Ottinger snow chain models are manufactured from specially selected steels and alloys; they are case-hardened and use ice grippers that ensure a high degree of traction and braking force, and at the same time are highly wear-resistance

4. Number of diamond patterns

Optimal traction through increased number of diamond patterns! A significant safety factor, the number of diamond patterns that form a tight-fitting net over the tire, is quite often under estimated. It enhances the traction, and increases the braking force considerably. All snow chain models for passenger cars with tire sizes 195/65-15 and 205/55-16 use 8 diamond patterns per chain! (generally only 6 patterns are being used). This should also be considered for all utility vehicles, and a comparison is recommended.

5. Installation blanket

A large, waterproof installation blanket, made from robust polyethylene is included with each pair of snow chains. This protects your clothes from becoming dirty or wet when fitting the chains while kneeling down.

6. Narrow chain links

Ottinger snow chains for passenger cars have very slim chain links, contacting the tread surface with a cross-section of 12 mm. For cars with very low wheel well clearance we recommend our snow chain models "7mm", "9mm" and "QS-Spur". 

7. Suitable for front and rear wheel drive

However, please refer to you car manufacturer's operating manual. For rear wheel drives with narrow wheel housing we recommend our standard chain model "Profi".

8. Reversible chains

Our snow chain models are all reversible, making them more affordable, and allow you to use both wear zones/sides of the chain, which in turn gives you twice as many kilometers of usage.

9. Coupon

All Ottinger snow chain models are made of the finest quality and ensure a long service life. In order to keep YOU safe, Ottinger offers the following services:

- size replacement when purchasing another vehicle
- repair if worn
- functional check after the end of the winter season

Each passenger vehicle/4x4 snow chain comes with a coupon, worth €10 (see Fig.)

10. Hook and loop fastener attachment points

All plastic cases come with hook-and-loop fastener attachment points to give it a solid grip when stored in the trunk.

11. Installation gloves

Long water-repellent gloves protect your hands from injuries and prevent your clothes from becoming wet in dirty.

12. TÜV- and ÖNORM-certified

When there is a legal obligation to fit snow chains in Austria, they
must comply with standard V5117 or V5119. Some Ottinger snow-chains
conform this Önorm-standards.
The standard EN 16662-1 is valid in Europe since July 2020 and includes
passenger-cars, SUVs, all-terrain-vehicles and light duty commercial vehicles.
Some Ottinger snow-chains conform this EN-standards.

Some Ottinger chain systems are TÜV approved.
